Memorial Day Weekend is in circling mode!
It looks like Cole's Ten Beach Challenge will be placed on hold for another weekend. My separation with Donna is taking precedence. I'll be cleaning up my old digs in Carolina, and installing some new floor covering in the Bathroom. Yesterday, I had the house bug bombed, and on Sunday there will be a massive cleaning party, so that I can get the house prepared so that Cole can come over on the weekends. This 1920's shotgun(Camp)house has been a stable living arrangement for the Bachelors of our family since the early 1900's with a little paint, new screen doors, a new refrigerator, a decent TV, and Internet. But I must admit, it is a dramatic change from the 2850 sq.ft. house that my soon to be x-wife will reside .

May 21st & 22nd updates
It looks like this weekend is going to be a bust for any beach outings. I'm waiting on some news on whether I'm going to work a side job on Saturday or we'll have push it back to next week. As for Cole and I, it looks like Sunday will be our only day together and I really don't think I'll have enough strength after Saturday to cruse to our next beach.
Which is still a toss up between Daufuskie and Jekyll Island, both have great amenities to support beach outings. However Daufuskie is a boat ride from Hilton Head. Jekyll is I-95 and left turn down the Golden Isles parkway. I think Jekyll might be our choice if I don't work tomorrow!

Job Hunt update - May 17th
I've created a small spreadsheet that will help me with my job search. Its rather simple, but it will be effective in attempting to follow up with each company and correlate the positions available. I might even be able to find out who they hired, and attempt little comparison study. I should be able to publish it some time next week. So I just keep throwing mud on the walls!

Cole's Ten Beach Challenge Update!
Saturday, May 14th 2011, was a very blustery day to be at the beach: especially Hilton Head's Folly Field. Still Cole and I braved the elements, until the wind and sand finally caused Cole to breakdown. We had about an hour and half of fun on the beach under overcast but a relatively warm spring day. However, when the wind hits you like a brick, Hypersensitivity from Cole's PPD, it was a wonder he lasted as long as he did. I think he really wanted to boogie board more than the pain of the sand hitting his skin. We retired to Dairy Queen to enjoy a delicious super chocolate sundae with chocolate ice cream, chocolate sprinkles and chocolate syrup.

The Beach Report : Hunting Island State Park, SC
Hey Folks,
Cole's ten beach challenge is off to terrific start!. We ventured to Hunting Island State Park in South Carolina this past weekend.
It was beautiful! The weather was clear and the temperature was in the mid 80's, Cole played non-stop on the beach building sandcastles , and in the water: where he is an aggressive boogie boarder. We were accompanied by his uncle and my brother Greg. We set up a 10 x 10 canopy type pop-up tent and brought all the food and supplies for a day at the beach. Cole didn't stop playing until I made him take two rest periods.
If you want a fairly secluded southern beach to visit try Hunting Island during the week days
according to the life guard/ Beach patrol. It is really nice during midweek. Entrance fees are $5.00 per adult and free for children under 5 years. and $3.00 for children over 5 years. Bring supplies and necessities, and you will have fun.

Randy's Job Search!
Yes, I better update whomever may read this blog on my job search. I submitted several resumes today. The first to Philips Global(Consumer Electronics) for a South Eastern Regional Sales Position, and AstraZeneca pharmaceuticals for a Hilton Head Based Sales position. I just wonder if either company will reply back. I'll continue filling out applications, and forwarding my resumes as the year goes on, until I get another position. I'll try to come up with a scorecard to see which company replies, and so forth. Have great weekend folks, and thanks for reading my post! ~ Randy

Cole's 10 Beach challenge
It's The Spring of 2011, my son and I need companion time. Presently, there is major stress in our lives. He is four almost five years old, and he loves to go to the Beach specifically Tybee Island, Ga. His mother and I haven't had the best relationship, since he has been born.
I can actually say it has not been all my fault, and I will admit that I have been a monogamist since we started to date before marriage: nearly eight years ago. I hope she has, but I'm not so sure and the lack of trust between us is incredulous. Since my son's birth, Cole, has been my life and joy. He has pushed me to work harder, and to be a more responsible father and parent. So the more time I have with him the better our relationship will strengthen.
So at four almost five years, I don't think Cole is up to many full day trips. So I have hand picked ten beaches within 1.5 hr. drive from our home in Brooklet, Ga. So here are Cole's ten friendly beaches.
1. Tybee Island, Ga.
We made this trip last weekend on Saturday, April 30th 2011. We arrived at about 1:00 pm and left at 4:45 pm. Cole swam, played, built a sand castle, and drifted in the surf. It was good for me too. I got to watch a lot of two legged scenery. On our trip home, we enjoyed mint ice cream and a butterscotch milkshake.
2. Next weekend May 7th will be Hunting Island, SC just outside of Beaufort, SC and next to Fripp Island about 38 miles from I-95.
3. Hilton Head Island, Folly Field Beach.
4. Daufuskie Island, via the ferry.
5. Sea Island, Ga.
6. St. Simons, Ga.
7. Jekyll Island, Ga.
My last three beaches will be based out of our accommodations at Amelia Island Plantation.
8. Fernandina Beach, Fl. & Amelia Island State Park
9. Cumberland Island National Seashore, Ga.
10. Little Talbot Island State Park, Fl.
